Arlington Park First Baptist Church has been blessed with fifty-four (56) years of spiritual existence.
In the early years of Arlington Park Community Development there was no place for Sunday School or for church worship. Because of this, on April 1, 1952, Brother and Sister A.H. Jordan opened their home at 1327 Sleepy Hollow Drive under the leadership of a missionary by the name of Mrs. Beulah Strine. On April 6, 1952, thirteen (13) children gathered for Sunday School. The Sunday School grew in attendance to about forty-eighth (48) members. That is when they realized larger quarters quarters were needed to accommodate this growing ministry. A tent was procured in June 1952.
Arlington Park First Baptist Church was organized on July 23,1952. Reverend N.R. Washington was the first pastor.Reverend Coleman was called was the next called to pastor. Afterwards, the first officers of the church were elected.
The church continued to grow and prosper under the leadership of Reverend H.W. Bell. We moved from a tent to a church edifice to an elementary school auditorium. In 1964, the church moved to the building that is still known as Arlington Park First Baptist Church located at the corner of Record Crossing and Van Winkle Boulevard. Reverend Bell was called from labor to reward in the year of 1987.
On the second Sunday in May 1987, Reverend David Jones Senior became the fourth pastor of this great church. Pastor Jones, Sr. has been with this church for the past nineteen (21) years.
